Brenan Ghassemieh, Strength and Performance Coach

Background

With over 13 years of experience, Brenan Ghassemieh is a highly regarded Health and Performance Specialist at Prevail. He has worked with a diverse clientele, spanning all ages, experience levels, and goals. Brenan graduated with a B.S. in Kinesiology from Idaho State University, where he also played 5 years of football. He furthered his education with a Master’s degree in Kinesiology, specializing in Sport Psychology, from CSU Long Beach.

Brenan’s career is distinguished by his work with elite athletes across various sports, including NFL combine participants and professional baseball, basketball, and softball players. He has also developed training programs for youth teams, including St. John Bosco Football and Mamba Sports Academy. His tenure at Equinox saw him leading educational initiatives, coaching mentorships, and business management.

As a personal trainer, Brenan’s focus ranges from coaching youth for competitive sport to older populations for general fitness goals. His approach to nutrition coaching emphasizes creating healthy relationships with food through behavior modification. Brenan’s knowledge and experience are matched only by his compassion and belief that a health practice is essential for well-being, and for optimal development of growing youth and well as aging adults.

Passionate about bridging the gap between theory and practice, she regularly contributes to publications including the American College of Sports Medicine,  and WebMD, helping to empower trainers and with the knowledge they need to succeed.

Known for her approachable and empathetic style, Kori is a trusted mentor who guides clients and trainers toward success with precision and care.

Kori’s academic credentials include graduating Cum Laude with a BS in Exercise Science, Minor in Organic Chemistry  and earning an MS in Clinical Nutrition, reflecting her commitment to excellence. Evan Spinks, Performance Coach & Boxing Specialist

Evan Spinks brings over 29 years of experience in the fitness industry to Prevail Strength & Conditioning in Laguna Beach, CA. Originally from New York City, Evan began his journey as a personal trainer in 1994, specializing in functional and performance training. His expertise extends to coaching boxing and martial arts, rounding out his signature approach to fitness coaching. Evan has successfully coached hundreds of clients across diverse settings, from large health clubs to intimate boutique gyms and private residences. Now based in Newport Coast, California, Evan is dedicated to empowering individuals and small groups to achieve their fitness goals at Prevail.

What is Myofascial Release?

Myofascial Release Therapy (MFT) is a system of assessing and treating soft tissue restrictions to movement and performance. Injury, surgery, posture, sports, even playing an instrument, cutting hair and cooking, can all bring us out of ideal alignment. When poor alignment meets exertion or repetitive movements, inflammation, pain and compensatory patterns result, and the body can’t heal fast enough to keep up. MFT can help identify the causes of pain and inflammation, and help the body return to a state of alignment and proper movement. More than just focused deep tissue massage, modalities such as guasha, cupping, athletic tape, TENS/EMS, muscle flossing and restorative exercises are used to get the body out of pain and move efficiently.

Do I need to get in shape first to hire a trainer? Or buy an online program?

No, that is not necessary. It’s our job and expertise to help you regardless of your current fitness level.

Can I freeze my membership if I travel?

Yes, you can freeze your membership if you travel.

Are there enrollment fees?

No, there are no enrollment fees.

 

Is youth training available for general health and sport performance?

Yes, our coaches are well experienced working with all ages and goals for their training. All of our coaches, in the past or currently, have worked with numerous athletes and teams for performance enhancement and injury prevention.
